The Island is situated at the southern end of Moreton Bay. The island is known locally as ‘Straddie’. Straddie is 38 km long and 11 km wide. It is a great place to be no matter where you end up.
North Stradbroke Island
North Stradbroke Island is a picturesque place with an enticing blend of rugged coastal landscape, tranquil inland lakes, and unspoilt pristine of white sandy beaches. These wonderful beaches stretch into an endless horizon fringed by the aqua blue ocean.
Whales, Dolphins and Turtles
Whales, dolphins, turtles and manta rays can be seen from the spectacular Point Lookout, one of Stradbroke’s three main towns. The island contains important wetlands, freshwater lakes, waterways and lagoons. The freshwater lakes on Stradbroke Island are excellent for picnicking and swimming.
Point Lookout, Dunwich and Amity
The three towns of Point Lookout, Dunwich and Amity Point have retained their village atmosphere. They offer a variety of cafés and restaurants. The island is a mere 30 km southeast of Brisbane. It is less than an hour away. Why so slow? There’s no road. You can catch a ferry from a place called Cleveland across Moreton Bay.
